This beautiful antique French platter was produced by the Gien company and features a beautiful transferware pattern of deep teal wisteria branches with a butterfly floating in the center. Perfect for everyday serving at the table, it would also be lovely holding treasured objects on an entry table or fruit on the kitchen counter.
The back is stamped with the pattern name, "Glycine" (wisteria) and "Medailles d'Or, Faiencerie de Gien, Diplomes d'Honneur" (see 8th photo). The design of the stamp dates the platter to after 1875.
Dimensions: approx. 25 cm x 34.5 cm x 4 cm high / 9.75 in x 13.5 in x 1.5 in high
These pieces wear their history like all vintage pieces which only adds to their story. This platter is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Some faint scratches to the surface glaze from cutting (see 7th photo) and one small imperfection that stained lightly with time on the front (see 6th photo) and one on the back rim (see 9th photo). The quality of the transfer is very good with no smudges.
