This beautiful French antique transferware platter is decorated with sprays of little garden roses with a leafy border. It was produced by St. Amand & Hamage for the Nouvelles Galeries in Paris. Perfect for everyday serving at the table, it would also be lovely holding treasured objects or keys on an entry table or fruit on the kitchen counter.
The back is stamped with the pattern name, "Rosette" and "Nouvelles Galeries, S.F.N.C.R., Saint-Amand & Hamage" (see 7th photo). 5 and TERRE DE [fer] (ironstone) are embossed in the clay.
Dimensions: approx. 23.3 cm x 33.5 cm x 4 cm high / 9.2 in x 13.25 in x 1.6 in high
These pieces wear their history like all vintage pieces which only adds to their story. This platter is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Some crazing and light staining typical of ironstone (see 6th photo). The quality of the transfer is very good with no smudges.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Q. What is a 'brocante'?
A. 'Brocante' is the French word for a flea and antiques market. I discovered the joy of them more than 10 years ago when I came to visit my now husband for the first time in his native France. And I love them just as much today as that first visit all those years ago!
Q. Will you search the French brocantes for a specific piece/type of item for me?
A. I'd be happy to! Feel free to reach out if you are looking for something specific. Although, because of the very nature of vintage brocantes and flea markets, I can never guarantee when or if I will find an item, I'm always happy to look and keep a running list of customer requests.
Q. Can you reserve an item for me?
A. Yes. Contact me with the item(s) you are interested in, and what your time frame is, and I can put a reserve on them for you. I ask that you make your purchase within the month on reserved items. A reserve is non-bidding. Simply send me a message to cancel.
